Get That Home Office Clean, Girl.

Has working from home been everything you wanted and more? Has working from home been extremely frustrating and tiring?

Say less.

Like many of you, I too have been thrown into this work from home situation. In several ways, it's all I every wanted. I can get so many more things done in the mornings. When I get done with work, I don't have to spend an hour driving home.

Butttttt, there are aspects of working from home that are draining. Tell me if you agree with this statement: "Now that my house is my office, I feel an overwhelming desire to constantly clean." Is it just me? It cannot be just me.

So what can I do, you ask.

Step 1: Throw things out. I know this might seem like a silly step. It might seem like duh, of course I throw things out when I don't need them. I promise you, getting rid of our stuff seems like a needless item on the list. But look around you, can you see something in your vision that doesn't get used. Donate it. Recycle it. Put it in the trash (last resort). Dedicate 30 minutes a week to going through a drawer or two. Don't overwhelm yourself with saying you'll do it all at one time. One drawer, one half hour.

Step 2: Buy the boxes. OR the totes, or the drawer organizers, or the carousels. BUY THEM. You don't have to spend a fortune on them, either. Look at Dollar Tree, Target, Walmart, Michael's. I use glass food jars to hold stuff too. I'm not sure which tv personality said it, but give each thing its own place. If you don't every drawer will be the junk drawer.

Step 3: Move your files digital. You get that Google Drive for free. Use it. You might have noticed that you have less papers sitting around. You might notice yourself using words you never used before. "I'll share this doc with you." "I put that in a Google Sheet." Now is the time! One mistake I made in the past was not organizing my folders in Google Drive. (more on that later) Just be sure like you physical stuff, that your digital items have their own place as well.

Step 4: Clean off your desktop. Nothing is more stressful to me than opening my laptop to see that it looks just like my son's legos. (1000+ pieces and I can't determine the original set) Put the stuff you keep on your computer in folders just like you did with your Drive. Then, if you feel like you need something on your desktop for easy access, make a desktop organizer (or use this free one I'm about to show you)!

And that's all for today! Have a relaxing, junk free day.
